Four layers of an operating metric tree
01

Goals: revenue, profit, cash

02

Results: sales, margin, inventory

03

Drivers: price, channel, product

04

Actions: replenishment, promotion, staffing

Start with decisions, not charts

A dashboard can look complete while nobody knows what to do next. A metric tree moves from a business goal to results, drivers, and actions, making each metric accountable to a decision.

Document formula, grain, time basis, and owner so sales, finance, and operations do not create competing versions of “revenue.”

Keep only actionable leaves

Revenue may split into traffic, conversion, basket size, or channel contribution. Inventory may split into days of cover, stock-outs, in-transit units, and turns. The point is not to include every field, but every dimension that can change an action.

For each leaf record its threshold, source, refresh cadence, and owner.

Where BI0 can fit

BI0.AI is positioned across collection, preparation, modeling, operating insight, reports, and alerts. It can be evaluated as a way to organize scattered operating data into a repeatable flow. Connector coverage, metric configuration, and automated-action boundaries require project confirmation.

Start with one sales or inventory decision, then expand to products, stores, and supply chain.

Accept the outcome, not chart count

Check whether the owner can answer what happened, why, and what to do within a defined time. Record extraction, review, and execution effort, then remove views that never change a decision.
